We congratulate ArtLego artist Jim Darbu with his latest exhibition in Bergen. Highly earned, two of his sculptures, Mud (2015) and The hanging tits of Norway (2011) were purchased by the Norwegian Committee for Handicrafts. The exhibition as a whole received fine response.
Works by Darbu has also been purchased earlier, by the Purchasing Fund for Norwegian crafts at Bergen Art Museum, Akershus County (2013), the Purchasing Fund for Norwegian crafts at the National Museum of Norway (2011) and Hå Municipality (2010).
The skilled artist is known for his wonderfully grotesque and comic like works in clay. In spite of their slightly comical appearance, Darbu´s complex characters reflect human conditions, mirroring our existential needs and inner desires. In many ways Darbu´s works remind us of the classical role of the jester and clown; to reveal the often uncomfortable truth, while smiling and making jokes.
We are proud to represent Jim Darbu at ArtLego, and will in December show some of his works at our pop up exhibition in Stavanger. We´ll keep you posted! Meanwhile you may see works by Darbu at our gallery shop
