We are proud to announce that our artist Tanja Thorjussen will launch her hand made book “Crepuscular” at the 57th Venice Biennial, at an event at Bosnia and Herzegovina Pavilion. Also attending are fellow artists from LOCUS: Stefano Cagol, Thale Fastvold and Margrethe Pettersen.
The book launch is in the exhibition “The University of Disaster”, a collaboration by Radenko Milak and Roman Uranjek, commissioned by director Sarita Vujković of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska.
Crepuscular is a part of Thorjussen´s long time investigation into the theme of liminality in nature, spirituality and mythology. Her book is hand bound, comes in an edition of 13, and contains lithography prints on Arches Rives paper.
The artists in LOCUS are all exhibiting books from their joint project CoSA – Concerning the Spiritual in Art / Artist books. The project started in 2016, aiming to expand an artistic research into the spirituality of art. In the passing year LOCUS has invited various artists to create small editions of artist books about this theme. The first two artist books were launched during Documenta´s opening week at The Norwegian Institute in Athens in 2017. All the books are hand made by the artists, signed and numbered in an edition of 13.
LOCUS is an artist run independent gallery space and a small publishing house. The artists produce exhibitions and presents artists in various locations nationally and internationally. LOCUS was established in 2006 by Thale Fastvold and Tanja Thorjussen, and is based in Oslo.
The book launch event is kindly supported by OCA – Office of Contemporary Art Norway and realized in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska.
