Sunderø Gallery artist Kurt Johannessen has an active praxis. His drawings, photos and prints are frequently exhibited, he holds performances all over Norway, and a wide audience loves his magical books with surreal exercises and reflections.
This autumn he´s busy as ever. Opening 18. August is a group show at Kulturhuset USF in Bergen, called “Smak av bok” (Taste of books). The show will display works that emphasize the book’s sensual and physical possibilities. The works are produced especially for the exhibition and USF will be the premiere location. Besides Johannessen Dino Dikic, Sarah Jost, Imi Maufe, Rita Marhaug, Håkon Holm Olsen, Julie Lillelien Porter, Randi Annie Strand, Elisabet Alsos Strand and Anja Ulset will have works on display.
“Taste of books” will also be shown at Stormen art center in Bodø (November 2016) and Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum (spring 2017).
We also recommend Johannessen performance lectures at Bomuldsfabriken in Arendal Sunday 4. September, and at Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo Wednesday 14, Saturday 17. and Sunday 18. September and his Encounter performances in Moss 22. – 25. September. As if this wasn´t enough Johannessen will also hold an exhibition at Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo, 15. September – 16. October.
