Sometimes a piece of art is so beautiful that you almost stop breathing when watching it. Snøfrid Hunsbedt Eiene´s Folding´s Roses-drawings are like that, imposing a rare feeling of mystery and sacredness. With her astonishing skills in drawing, Eiene plays with light and shadow, revealing close ups of flowers as if seen through a magnifier glass. Drawing the roses many times as big as they are in nature, her works echo Georgia O´Keeffe´s words about her paintings: “Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.”
Few symbols are more used in art history, religion, politics and myths than the rose. It´s therefore a challenging task ArtLego artist Snøfrid Hunsbedt Eiene has taken upon herself, making the motive her own, giving it new possible ways to be interpreted.
Eiene´s roses are really worth spending time and contemplating upon, just like O’Keeffe’s is. So if you are looking for a work of art to keep for the rest of your life, why not threat yourself with one of her Roses? We argue that you will still cherish the beauty of it in years to come.
