«- I tried to draw it – the family curse – but was never quite pleased. I called the drawing The Family Tree – but never refined it into a finished painting.
Steffen remembered the drawing well, he had used it as starting point for one of his full-page drawings in his Munch book. It was a gloomy drawing, even for Munch.»
