«He opened his eyes and realized he was laying on a stretcher. Surrounding him was a chaos of of loud sirens, fire hoses, flashing lights and screaming, uniformed people. Against the black, starry sky he observed the towering bend of the upper floors of Lambda in a bright cascade of fire. Large flames and vast amounts of tenacious, tawny smoke poured out of the broken glass panes.»
